This is not supposed to happen in the South! It rained. Then it began to sleet. Next came the snow followed by hours of freezing rain. This is the South! This winter (and we use that term loosely here) has been the coldest in five years - that's how long we've been in Memphis even though I swore I wasn't staying six months. Today is February 16 and I'm looking out my window at snow on the ground. Mind you, it's nothing like they received in Baltimore, but by southern standards this is snow. The ice from the picture above came to Memphis on Friday, January 29th and lasted all weekend. Over one inch of ice and we didn't lose power (unlike those humid summer days when we lose power for no reason and have no air conditioning). Since then we've had ice and snow every weekend. We had snow showers yesterday that lasted long enough to cover everything. As much as I hate the humid summers, I've kinda' gotten spoiled by the mild "winters".
