Presley graduated from obedience school on April 8th. Over the course of 5 weeks she has learned to give you salt or pepper depending on which paw you request; lay down and roll over if you give her 'but' that extra push; she will walk beside you on her leash once she decides that her legs can function again after having to put the harness on her (she pouts!); she can wait patiently if you drop a piece of "cookie" in front of her and you are standing along side of her - if you are out in front she will beat you to it every time; she can sit-stay in one spot and wait unless you take 3 steps back - then the sit-stay starts all over again (we do a series of sit-stays across the kitchen floor every evening); she has learned the definition of the word "off" but she can not apply it to everyday life situations; and last, but not least, she has learned to heel beautifully which involves circling around beside you and sitting up close to your feet - she can do this difficult trick with ease but she still has to be convinced to lay all the way down including making her hind end lay down.Presley is growing sweeter and sweeter by the minute. She is very head strong and can not fight the urge to heard, but she is working on it. We wouldn't change a thing! We enjoy her and the puppy/dog that she is becoming. No matter what the day has been like it is a blessing to come home to her and her joy. She is so much like Punkin in so many ways and thank God she is unlike her in so many others. The old lady Punkin would never have tolerated her. The young Punkin would have loved her to bits. We will keep working on obedience because it is fun to work with her and she really wants to please us. Our main goal in all of this was to teach her not to run out of the yard or front door and into harms way.
