Wednesday evening, November 26, 2008 Presley joined our family. She was born September 19th and presently weighs 3 pounds. Her parents were a Sheltie and a Border Collie. She is the runt from a litter of nine. We watcher her play along with her two sisters and one brother and within moments she won our hearts. She is quiet (for right now anyway) and she loves to snuggle.

Miss Presley's litter mates were mostly white with tan and black markings. Her sister was the most beautiful of the group with very even markings. Miss Presley looks like a little Teddy Bear - or maybe a peanut butter cup. All four feet are tan except the left one has been dipped in white.

This is what happens when you play hard for hours. Miss Presley likes to snuggle up on your chest and nap. She can even sleep through Chuck's snoring - something I have yet to achieve.

Gombays

Gombays marching toward St. George's town square. There are whistles blowing, drums beating, people cheering - and your heart is pounding. The costumes represent the African influence in Bermuda culture.

Both young and old perform the dances - non-stop.

It was announced that one of the dancers has been a part of the troop for more than 40 years. I didn't know at the time I took this picture that this was that person. As the troop was leaving this man leaned in toward Chuck's video camera, lifted his face mask and told us he was the one. Amazin.

Bermuda 2008

Bermuda is all about the sunshine and being outdoors so when we woke up Wednesday morning to heavy rain and thunder we knew the time had come to visit the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo. Besides, we've talked about visiting Flatts Village but have never gone because, once again, it's all about being out in the sun. The aquarium is small, but jam packed with interesting life forms. It was feeding time at the 'great tank' and thanks to a circular polarizing filter we not only walked away with fond memories, but we managed to capture one with the camera.

Flatts Village - looking out toward the Ocean. Chuck and Rick had reservations on this day to Jet Ski at 3:00pm, weather permitting. The first break in the clouds came at 2:30 and by the time everyone gathered at the rental place the sun was out and everyone was happy (especially Laurie and me).
