I'm afraid that Presley suffers from an identity crisis. I don't think she knows that she's a dog! She almost never gets to see other dogs. Her days are spent home alone and we almost never have people come over. We are thinking about getting another dog so that she can play during the day and when she is outside in our yard. A friend of ours suggested we try meeting other dogs at the dog park at Shelby Farms - a mile or so from our house. The place is huge. There are probably 15 or more fenced acres dedicated just to the dog park. It's dog park as far as you can see. There are two lakes and trails that lead all over the land. Presley has been there twice since we found the place. Once on a Saturday that was mild and sunny and she got to run "off-leash" for the first time in her life. Chuck was nervous at first and within minutes he and Presley met a border collie and his owner. Within minutes Presley and her new friend were off and running. The border collie's owner told Chuck not to worry 'they won't go too far - they will keep you in sight'. And they did. After running the two went to see the buffalo. Chuck said that Presley was mesmerized. Two hours later Chuck and Presley came home with tales of running and jogging and jumping and all the things both humans and dogs love to do in a dog park (I swear this place is more like a farm). They both ended up napping that afternoon.

Since we were both off of work on President's day we decided to take Presley back to the dog park. In spite of the snow showers and the bitter cold we all had a blast. We've finally found an outlet for Presley's "energy". Better yet, we've found a way to have fun while making our dog happy. She gives us so much more.
