Flood of the Century

We've only been in Memphis three years, but we are amazed at the number of people down by the river taking photos. With all of the rain we've had, folks are telling us they have never seen the water this high. A lot of folks were down there with us taking photos of it all. We also saw sandbags on a levy down near the casino in Tunica.

Sunset over the Mississippi. Taken from Tunica Riverpark. That's Arkansas in the background. During the height of the drought last summer, the river was more sandbar than water.

Interstate 55 and the train bridge over the Mississippi River, just south of downtown Memphis

The Herndando Desoto (Interstate 40)Bridge between Tennessee and Arkansas. Look carefully on the bridge for the "Welcome to Arkansas" sign.

These trees are normally 15-20 feet from the banks of the river.
